Is it safe?

Information technology security threats are the same for large enterprises and small and midsized businesses these days. Unfortunately, many SMBs lack the expertise or, more important, the budgets, to accurately access their vulnerabilities. That's why Hewlett-Packard has created its Security Vulnerability Assessment for SMBs, a first-of-its-kind service where HP experts prepare accurate, actionable and strictly confidential reports on a small business' security architecture and policies.

HP brings its vast experience to bear to identify both problems and solutions, offering businesses an affordable way to design and implement the best possible security plan. Both a basic and an enhanced assessment are available.

Price: Starts at $1,495.

InSource modules

RIA has introduced two new modules for its InSource tax compliance solution - one for provision and estimates, and one specifically designed for the food and beverage industry.

Worldwide Provision & Estimates, available in both an in-house client server and an online application service provider platform, offers a provision solution that will help clients better manage their effective tax rate, decrease the time needed to turn around provision data, and meet the internal controls required by their audit committee.

With Sarbanes-Oxley changing income tax provision calculations, users will benefit from the module's ability to meet compliance demands while making their state estimated tax filings.

The newly released Food and Beverage module for the InSource Sales and Use Tax solution is the first in a planned series of industry-specific optional return modules.

It allows retailers and food industry companies to precisely and easily generate their state and local sales tax returns by tagging sales and use transactions prior to import with a code that indicates their specialized tax characteristics.

Coded transactions then flow to the proper state or local return lines, and are subject to the appropriate tax rate and calculations.

Price: Provisions and Estimates - starts at $7,500; Food and Beverage - $5,000.
