South Florida Firms Merge

Two firms in South Florida said they were merging, with Berenfeld, Spritzer, Shechter & Sheer LLP, expanding by combining with Lefcourt, Billig, Tiktin & Yesner.

The four name partners - Jeffrey Lefcourt, Robert Billig, Steven Tiktin and Jack Yesner - will join Berenfeld's Coral Gables office. They specialize in complex estate, trust and gift-tax-planning strategies, in addition to doing traditional accounting, tax and audit work. The firm was founded in 1943.

"This merger brings four outstanding accounting and tax professionals into our firm and broadens our capabilities in a manner that will have real impact on our clients," said Berenfeld managing partner Butch Gelnovatch in a statement. His firm had revenues of $17.7 million in 2006, but no revenue figures were available for Lefcourt Billig.

The merger developed as an extension of the personal and professional relationships between the two firms. Berenfeld Spritzer has offices in both Coral Gables and Fort Lauderdale. The firm was founded in 1971 and has more than 200 professionals providing accounting, audit, tax, litigation-support and consulting services.
