St. Louis-area firms Scheffel & Co. PC and J.W. Boyle & Co. Ltd. have announced that they will be merging on Jan. 1, 2014, to form Scheffel Boyle.

The combined firm will have approximately 90 professionals on staff, making it one of the largest firms in the area, with offices in Alton, Edwardsville, Belleville, Highland, Columbia, Jerseyville and Carrollton, Ill.

“Scheffel & Co. collaborated with J.W. Boyle in the past and found their exemplary work and dedication to clients to be similar to our standards,” Scheffel managing principal Dennis Ulrich told the Edwardsville Intelligencer. “Combining our reach, resources, and knowledge can only elevate the work we do for our clients.”

J.W. Boyle principal Mark Glueck added, “Our firm has always prided itself as professionals who not only satisfy our client’s accounting and tax needs, but understands their business. We are able to provide valuable financial and operational ideas. By merging our practice with a firm with the strength and excellent reputation of  Scheffel & Co., we will enhance our service with more depth of staff and greater resources while continuing  to give our clients individual attention and fresh business insight.”

The two Illinois-based firms have long histories of serving clients in the St. Louis area; Scheffel & Co. was founded in 1955, and J.W. Boyle in 1924. The combined firm will be a member of the BDO Seidman Alliance.
