Sqrl Adds E-Signature Tool

Sqrl announced an e-signature add-on, 88seventysign, for its client communication platform.

The automated e-signature tool includes dynamic knowledge-based authentication, meeting the requirements established by the IRS for allowing electronic signatures for Forms 8878 and 8879.

It will be available on February 1; the service is currently providing quotes and taking commitments for the upcoming tax season.

Each executed signature will cost $4, plus $2 for a spouse and $1 for state forms.

“Over the past several months, an increasing number of firms approached us about the 8879 process,” said Sqrl’s chief marketing officer, Craig Baldwin. “Last year 86% of all returns were e-filed, and over 70 million of those were submitted by tax return preparers, all requiring 8879s. So we think there’s a huge opportunity to provide immediate value to accounting firms of all sizes.”

88seventysign will also be available for other types of signatures such as engagement and management rep letters, and powers of attorney.
