Squar Milner merges in Boas & Boas

Squar Milner LLP, a Top 100 Firm based in Newport Beach, California, is combining with Boas & Boas LLP, a firm based in San Francisco, effective Jan. 1, 2019.

As part of the deal, Boas & Boas’s 10 professionals and staff members will be relocating to Squar Milner’s existing offices in San Francisco, including partners David Arrick and Tom Coughlan. Squar Milner already has offices in there, in addition to San Mateo, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Encino and the Cayman Islands. Squar Milner ranked 44th on Accounting Today’s 2018 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $101.1 million in annual revenue. The firm has more than 500 professionals and associates.

Last year, Squar Milner merged in two other California firms, DZH Phillips and Loomis & Co. CPAs.

“We have been working for the last decade to establish ourselves as one of the preeminent firms based in California,” said Squar Milner managing partner Steve Milner in a statement. “Last year, we were very pleased to have a large San Francisco based firm join us. We never intended to stop there. We will continue to work to be the very best significant accounting practice in the Bay Area. We are very excited about our combination with Boas & Boas. They have a sophisticated client base, talented people, and a stellar reputation in San Francisco. We truly believe we are creating something wonderful.”

Financial terms of the deal with Boas & Boas were not disclosed. However, Boas & Boas earns more $3 million in annual revenue and is one of the oldest firms in the Bay Area, dating back to 1938.

“Boas & Boas has worked hard to be a premier firm in the Bay Area, providing the highest quality and timely services to our devoted clientele,” Arrick stated. “We are excited for the next evolution of our business and know that our union with Squar Milner will not only mirror our firm’s ethos, but also strengthen our professional capability. We are looking forward to the positive opportunities ahead for our clients and employees, alike.”

“Squar Milner is hands down the preeminent West Coast CPA firm,” Coughlan added. “Boas & Boas clients will benefit from access to both the expanded services of a larger firm as well as collaboration with the firm’s world class professionals.”
