The new Paul Wiese Bridge Builder Scholarship Award honors the Surgent vice president and aims to commemorate his contributions to accounting and finance students.

Every spring and winter semester, the selected scholarship recipient will receive a $2,500 award — up from $1,500 — along with a full Surgent review course for the CPA, CMA, EA or SIE exam.

"Paul Wiese cared deeply about educating the next generation of accounting and finance professionals, and though he left us far too soon, he made a huge impression on the industry that I know will live on for years to come," said Surgent executive vice president Elizabeth Kolar in a statement. "We are honored to rename our scholarship program in Paul's memory."

Student applicants must be a current student at an accredited college or university within the U.S.; studying toward an accounting or finance-related degree; maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA; and submit a copy of their current transcript. Applicants must also submit a video response to answer questions as to why they are seeking the scholarship.

Applications for the spring semester scholarship are being accepted through April 30. For more information, visit Surgent's site here.
