Susan Tulis Merges with Sweeney Kovar

Susan Tulis has merged her Alamo, Calif.-based CPA practice into Sweeney Kovar LLP.

[IMGCAP(1)] “We are extremely pleased to have Sue and her team join Sweeney Kovar,” partner Joe Kovar said in a statement. “The firms agreed to merge to provide additional services and resources to our clients. Both firms have similar philosophy on client service, etc,” Kovar added in a separate email to Accounting Today.

Kovar declined to disclose the financial terms of the merger.

Tulis, who has more than 30 years of experience in the accounting profession, operated her firm as a sole proprietor along with two employees. She will continue her career at Sweeney as a director and the two employees will also join Sweeney’s staff.

Sweeney, which currently has two partners, increased its total staff from 17 to 20 employees with the addition of Tulis.

Kovar noted that Tulis marks the third addition to the firm within the last three years. In 2010, Sweeney Kovar picked up Ralph Swany’s CPA practice in Danville, Calif., and in August 2011, it added the tax practice of Mary Kay Foss.
