Thomson Acquires GoFileRoom, RIA Partners with onProject

Immediatech Corp., the developer of GoFileRoom, a Web-based document management service for CPA firms, has had its GoFileRoom business acquired by the Thomson Corp.

GoFileRoom will join the RIA compliance business of Thomson Tax & Accounting. Joe Harpaz, co-founder of Immediatech, said in a statement that his company will continue to grow the GoFileRoom business. The companies have already begun integrating the service into RIA products, including GoSystem Tax and InSource software.

"We will also continue to support our open architecture and seamless integration with the most common software applications in the accounting market, regardless of vendor," Harpaz said. "While the ownership of Immediatech has changed, the operations and service delivery model have not."

GoFileRoom is delivered as a hosted Web-based subscription service. A complete document management solution, GoFileRoom provides flexible indexing for searching, viewing, annotating, e-mailing and long-term archiving of documents. It also can track and provide an audit trail of document activity from the moment a document enters the GoFileRoom system. Because the service is Web-hosted, it can be accessed from multiple locations.

RIA also announced this week that it has formed a strategic reseller relationship with onProject, the developer of S-O Comply, a Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance application for managing internal controls.

S-O Comply is available in two versions. The enterprise version is a client-server Web model providing a graphical interface and tools for performing cross-organizational operations. The small group version is for companies where few users are required and few organization structures exist. It includes the same features and functionality as the enterprise, but for the desktop.

RIA and onProject feel that RIA Checkpoint's financial reporting and management products, and S-O Comply's automated documentation capabilities, are an appropriate combination for firms seeking Sarbanes-Oxley knowledge and tools to manage the documentation process and implement internal controls.
