Thomson Reuters Launches RTRP Subscription

As the IRS's new registration regime for tax preparers kicks in, Thomson Reuters has created a set of resources under its Checkpoint Learning brand to help them deal with the education and testing requirements.

Available as a subscription, the resources include test prep courses for the Registered Tax Return Preparer Exam, close to 200 continuing education courses, and tools to help tax preparers track their progress in meeting the IRS requirements.

"To help preparers meet these requirements, we've developed more than 180 continuing education courses in a variety of media formats. Plus, we've launched the Registered Tax Return Preparer CPE Package, an annual subscription that includes the online courses to meet annual IRS requirements and an automated compliance tracking tool," said Ken Koskay, vice president of learning solutions at Thomson Reuters.

He added that customers who subscribe this year will receive an online exam prep course for free.

Checkpoint Learning products for RTRPs include test prep courses that cover all the topics preparers need to know to pass the RTRP Exam, as well as CE courses that address the annual 15-hour education requirement. Courses are available online and life, and in some cases in downloadable self-study format. Thomson Reuters has also created the RTRP Regulation, which lets users search through all its courses to determine which fulfill the IRS CE requirements, and helps users track their coursework.

Checkpoint Learning's bundled subscription, the RTRP CPE Package, includes 16 interactive online courses, the RTRP Regulator CPE and, for a limited time, an online IRS exam preparation course.
