Thomson Reuters Taps Baron to Head New Unit

Thomson Reuters has elevated long-time executive Jon Baron to oversee the newly formed Americas Business Unit of Thomson Tax & Accounting.

As president, his role will include overseeing the U.S., Canada and Latin America markets with responsibility for management, growth strategies and expansion of income tax compliance business lines for the corporate market, and the tax, accounting, and practice management business lines for the professional accounting firm market.

The new Americas Business Unit will also include all Americas-based software and services businesses servicing accounting firms and the corporate tax compliance market.

Baron, who has been with Thomson since 1992, formerly served as president, professional software and services, for Thomson Tax & Accounting.

To fill Baron’s previous role, Thomson promoted Teresa Mackintosh to the post of senior vice president and general manager of the Professional Market. In that position, she will have responsibility for all software and services for the accounting firm market across the Americas. She will report to Baron. She previously served as senior vice president of the Core Segment for Thomson Tax & Accounting.

The announcements were made at a strategic update meeting here comprised of media, consultants and vendors. At the session, the company also demonstrated its pending Accounting CS platform for its Professional Suite, which is scheduled for a spring release.
