Three South Carolina Firms Merge

Three venerable accounting firms in South Carolina have combined operations.

McKnight Frampton CPAs, Schleeter Monsen & Debacker and Elliott Davis said they would begin operating under the Elliott Davis name on Jan. 1. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Both McKnight and Schleeter will continue to operate from their existing offices in Charleston for now, but there are plans to combine the two downtown offices in the near future. Elliott Davis has been around since 1925, McKnight since 1934 and Schleeter since 1919. Elliott Davis now has 47 shareholders and 375 employees. Forty new staff members were added with the merger.

"All three firms share a rich heritage and are committed to serving the people and companies of South Carolina," said Todd Mitchell, chairman of Elliott Davis, in a statement.

His Greenville, S.C.-based firm has been expanding lately. Last month, Elliott Davis announced that it was combining operations with Charlotte-based Elliot & Warren. The firm had revenues of $32.34 million in its last fiscal year and was ranked No. 81 on Accounting Today's list of the Top 100 firms.
