Tomorrow's News

Videos are a powerful medium, one that astute accounting firms have recognized as a tool to add dimensions of personality, humor and easily digestible information to their typically flat online interactions.

We recently compiled a list of our favorite firm- or accountant-produced YouTube clips. Some of them, like WithumSmith+Brown's annual, viral State of the Firm productions, caught our attention because of their impact on the profession, while others, like Greg Kyte's tongue-in-cheek countdown to the release of the new BlackBerry, were mentioned for their sheer creativity.

We tried our best to seek out some of the finest accounting-related clips currently racking up YouTube viewers, operating under the assumption that we were fishing in a small pool. But the energetic reader response to that list has included a number of e-mails directing our attention to overlooked videos.

Fortunately, more and more accountants and their marketing teams understand the power of a well-conceived video, and the pantheon of notable productions grows bigger all the time. We have a follow-up slideshow of favorite accounting videos on deck, so keep those suggestions coming via e-mail and Twitter @ATomorrow.

In the meantime, the Accounting Today team has embraced Vine, Twitter's new app for sharing short videos. We pieced together some shots of the desks in our N.Y. office and asked firms to tweet us visuals of their own busy season.

Alpern Rosenthal, for one, had some excellent spreadsheet carnage in the Vine they shared. Vine requires a smartphone and maxes out at six seconds in length -- and the perfect peek into your firms' offices.

Basically, we want to spy. Get the app and share your story the next time we call for submissions through Twitter!
