Tomorrow's News

I know, I know - most of us spend too much time online already, but a few new Web sites have crossed my browser lately that are definitely worth a second look.

The words "passionate" and "accountant" don't usually spend time in the same sentence, but a new Web site, ThePassionateAccounant.com, launched by consulting firm Mentor Plus, is working hard to change that. The site rounds up accountants, who are - yep, you guessed it - passionate about accounting and gives them a space to share their experiences. There's a blog, success stories, a list of passionate accountants organized by state, and a way to nominate your own. Drop on by, and if you like what you see, check out my podcast with Edi Osborne, the CEO of Mentor Plus.

While you're surfing, you may want to stop by a new resource for those hustling to pass the CPA Exam. Andrew Lee, a CPA out of Vancouver, Wash., has launched CPAReviewMaterials.com, for those smack dab in the middle of the studying process. He passed all four parts of his exam on the first try and thought he could offer some insight on how others can achieve the same success. A handful of different CPA Exam review publishers are listed on the site, as well as articles full of test-taking advice and a forum for applicants to ask and answer questions.

And don't forget MyWayCPA.com, being touted as the "nation's first Internet-based CPA firm." Headquartered in Denver, this firm pairs the convenience of filing online with the opportunity to build a relationship with a CPA. And, like many forward-thinking business owners these days, founder Melinda Bucknam has made a pledge to give 30 percent of the firm's profits to charity.

We're always looking for resources out there to support the accounting profession - so if you know of one or two or three or four, let us know at tomorrow@sourcemedia.com.
