By now you've probably heard about our Growth & Profitability Summit (known around our office as GroPro), November 17-18 in Las Vegas. We're excited because we know it's going to be a successful gathering of accounting superstars who are sharing their tips and knowledge on how firms can grow their practices.

This is our inaugural summit of this kind, offering five major topic areas - tax, technology, practice management, mergers & acquisitions and financial planning - and we're also hosting a luncheon for the winners of the 2010 Best Accounting Firms to Work For.

If you need further convincing, Tom Hood, chief executive and executive director of the Maryland Association of CPAs, and Mark Koziel, director of specialized communities and firm practice management at the American Institute of CPAs, will be keynote speakers. Hood and Koziel have their fingers on the pulse of the profession in social media and firm best practices, and our bets are on both sharing engaging, forward-thinking insights on the issues critical to the profession right now.

Attendees will also get a chance to (drum roll, please) meet the Accounting Today staff. We'll be at the event to answer your questions and connect while tweeting, blogging and doing other assorted multi-media activities to bring you live coverage of what's happening, just in case you can't be there in person.

But I'm telling you - you will want to be there.

With sessions such as, "You Have Your Dad's Firm, Now What?" "Are You Selling Services or Passion?" and "The Intersection of Business Development & Social Media," your schedule will be stacked with opportunities to make your firm more profitable - and you'll get CPE credit for it.
