New York (June 12, 2003) -- Lynn Turner, former chief accountant at the Securities and Exchange Commission and an outspoken critic of the Big Four and the American Institute of CPAs, was named as a managing director at financial consulting firm Kroll Zolfo Cooper.
In his new role, Turner will advise KZC’s Forensic Accounting & Litigation Consulting clients on financial restatement investigations, SEC matters and corporate governance. In addition, Turner will provide an array of services such as expert testimony.
Turner was also recently named managing director of research at Glass, Lewis & Co., an independent research concern that focuses on corporate integrity. The company reviews corporate governance, accounting policies, financial transparency, compensation plans, shareholder protections and boards of directors of public companies.
Turner has been a professor of accounting and corporate governance at Colorado State University since August 2001.
“These [Glass Lewis and KZC] are extremely intriguing opportunities,” said Turner. “It takes me back to much of what I was doing at the SEC for investor protection and to corporate governance as well.”
Turner told WebCPA that he would remain at CSU under the auspices of an “Executive-in-Residence” program, where he will serve as a guest lecturer at the university’s College of Business.
Turner served as the chief accountant of the SEC from July 1998 to August 2001.
