VSCPA's Peters Wins CEO Award of Excellence

Stephanie Peters, president and CEO of The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, was presented the CEO Award of Excellence by the Virginia Society of Association Executives.

“I am humbled to be recognized by my peers in the association community,” Peters said in a statement. “VSAE is a wonderful organization full of hardworking, dedicated professionals. It was a wonderful surprise to receive this honor.”

The CEO Award of Excellence is given to an association professional who has been nominated by their peers in recognition of their leadership and achievement.

Peters has served VSAE and the association community for many years. Recognized as a thoughtful professional with a strong work ethic, she has held many volunteer leadership positions at VSAE, most notably as President in 2012–2013. During her time as president, Peters led VSAE through unprecedented change and improvement. Her quiet, understated approach to leadership and consensus building was critical to VSAE becoming the strong organization it is today.

At the VSCPA, Peters leads national and state professional issues, legislative and regulatory initiatives, strategic planning, and external relations. She is also a member of the VSCPA Board of Directors and Executive Committee. A Certified Association Executive, Peters has been on VSAE Board of Directors since 2006, previously serving as secretary, treasurer, vice president and president.

She completed the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for Organization Management, a four-year professional development program for association and chamber executives. Peters also serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Council on Economic Education. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and her master's degree in public administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
