Watkins Meegan Merges in Sturn

Southeast regional accounting firm Watkins Meegan is expanding its Annapolis, Md., office by adding several accounting, tax and business consulting experts from Annapolis-based Sturn Wagner Lombardo & Co.

Watkins Meegan is based in Bethesda, Md., and has two other offices in Virginia. Joining the firm in Annapolis is Sturn Wagner founding partner Kurt Sturn, along with one or two other professionals from the firm. He will be bringing his clients and book of business to Watkins Meegan. His former partners, Andrew Lombardo and Matthew Wagner, are merging with SRM & Company to form Lombardo Wagner Sticher & Co.

“With this merger, we’re able to expand the depth and breadth of our accounting, tax and business advisory expertise while also building our presence and reach in the Annapolis market,” said Watkins Meegan managing member Mike Micholas in a statement.

The merger takes effect at the end of the year.

Watkins Meegan, formerly known as Watkins, Meegan, Drury & Co., ranked 71st on Accounting Today's 2009 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $42 million in revenue.
