Michael Hearne has joined Weaver’s new office in the greater Los Angeles area as tax partner.

“The new office space, combined with the experience of our new California team fully supports our plans to expand Weaver’s brand on the West Coast and nationally,” Weaver’s CEO Tommy Lawler, said in a statement. “Partnering Michael’s experience and his strong, deep relationships in the financial services industry with Weaver’s existing talents and capabilities enables us to deliver top-notch service and industry experience to the many companies based on the West Coast.”

Hearne will work with the firm’s assurance partner, Matt Anderson, to develop Weaver’s presence in Los Angeles with particular focus in the financial services industry.

Hearne and Anderson previously worked together on the expansion of Rothstein Kass’ & Co. in Beverly Hills, Calif. financial services practice in early 2000. Rothstein Kass has since been acquired by KPMG. (see Behind the Rothstein Kass Deal)

Hearne has more than 22 years of experience in tax and business consulting and tax compliance. He worked on hedge funds, private equity funds and structured investments in capital markets. He also has experience in real estate investments, international tax issues and tax structuring for foreign investments in the United States.

Prior to Weaver, Hearne owned Proprietary Fund Services LLC, providing tax and business consulting and tax compliance services predominantly to high net worth families and family offices, particularly those with significant investments in financial markets, including alternative investments.

Hearne is a member of the AICPA and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Hearne earned a Master of Taxation degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Brigham Young University.
