Web Site Computes Taxes Under Obama, McCain

A new Web site uses a financial modeling program to calculate a user's taxes under either of the major presidential candidates.

Business modeling software developer Quantrix collaborated with Professor Jeffrey Gramlich of the University of Southern Maine to develop the online tool, which can be found at www.ElectionTaxes.com. The tool aims to help individuals assess the impact of the tax policies proposed by Senators John McCain, R-Ariz., and Barack Obama, D-Ill.

"The economy is a key factor in this presidential election, and our interactive tool enables individuals to make an informed choice when casting their vote," said Gramlich in a statement. "With just a few keystrokes, this model enables voters to see how these tax plans will impact their personal bottom line."

Users can enter just their income at the site, or more detailed information such as the deductions they have claimed. The site does not capture or require personal information such as a name or Social Security number.
