The foundation of Beaumont, Texas-based Lamar University announced a new endowed scholarship for accounting majors.
Keith Kebodeaux established the Don S. Shaver Scholarhsip in Accounting in honor of his colleague’s career and contributions to the university.
A 1976 graduate of Lamar with a bachelor of business administration in accounting, Shaver went on to work for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Houston and Albert A Pollans & Company in Beaumont before launching his own firm, LD Services, in the same city in 2007.
As chief financial officer, Shaver provides administrative services to National Pump & Compressor, Gulfco Industrial Equipment and GulfStar Rental Solutions.
Shaver has worked as a volunteer for Lamar and served on the alumni association board from 2001-03. He currently sits on the Lamar Accounting Department Advisory Board and in 2006 hosted A Dinner and Twelve Strangers event to give accounting students the chance to learn more about the profession.
“We are very appreciative of these scholarship funds,” said Ann Watkins, chair of the department of accounting and business law, in a statement. “Scholarships such as this help ensure that students have access to the highest quality education possible.”
