The American Institute of CPAs presented its Gold Medal for Distinguished Service to veteran tax CPE seminar speaker and author Sidney Kess.
“After all of these years, Sid is still fond of ideas and passion trying to make a difference in the lives of tax practitioners,” said AICPA Awards Committee chair Kathy Eddy in honoring Kess at the AICPA’s Fall Meeting of Council in Phoenix on Monday.
[IMGCAP(1)]Kess spoke eloquently about his many years in the accounting profession and the changes he has seen at firms. He talked about growing up during the Depression and the expansion of technology and diversity at accounting firms. “Every day is a special day being brought up in America, and it’s only in America that something like this could happen,” he said.
He also reminded the audience that October 17 is the final extension date for tax returns, and the start of National Estate Planning Awareness Week.
