ASWA joins museum coalition during Women's History Month

The American Society of Women Accountants has joined the National Coalition of the National Women’s History Museum, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving women’s contributions to society. The announcement was made today, which marks the first week of Women's History Month.

Founded in 1996, the museum educates teachers and students on women’s history through online resources, traveling exhibitions, events and programs. National women’s professional and service organizations support the museum through the national coalition.

“Women’s History Month is a wonderful time to announce ASWA’s membership in the National Coalition of the National Women’s History Museum,” said Vivian Moller, current ASWA national president. “Promoting the value of women’s contributions is central to the mission of ASWA, so we embrace the opportunity to help advance NWHM’s important work.”

An immediate goal of the coalition is to acquire a permanent site for the museum on or near Washington, D.C.’s National Mall.

“We’re excited to join this coalition of prestigious women’s organizations,” said ASWA Executive Director Lee Lowery. “ASWA looks forward to collaborating with NWHM and other members of the National Coalition to recognize the role of women in transforming society.”
