Baker Newman Noyes MP awarded Crystal Heart

Ellie Baker, managing principal of New England accounting and consulting firm Baker Newman Noyes, was recently honored, along with husband Tom Saturley, with the American Heart Association’s 2013 Crystal Heart Award for their continued support and promotion of the organization.

The award was presented during the 8th annual Go Red for Women Luncheon and Educational Forum to educate the local community about women’s heart health and raise funds, hosted by the American Heart Association at the Holiday Inn By the Bay in Portland, Me.

In addition to the American Heart Association, for whom Saturley has served as auctioneer, Baker and Saturley are involved in many charitable organizations.

“Tom and I are honored to receive this award, especially here in our own backyard,” Baker stated. “We love Maine and strongly support all efforts to keep our neighbors healthy and to prevent heart disease, which is still the leading cause of death for women.”

The Go Red For Women Luncheon is presented nationally by Macy’s and Merck and locally by Maine Goes Red statewide partner Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.

“Ellie and Tom are dedicated to their own heart health and to promoting healthier lifestyles within our communities, and we could not have been more proud to present this award to them today,” said Carrie Fortino, executive director for American Heart Association of Maine, in a statement. “Women—mothers, sisters, friends—are dying at the rate of one per minute due to heart disease. We applaud Ellie and Tom for their efforts in combating this devastating disease.”
