Brian Carlton, regional managing partner of Charlotte, N.C.-based CPA firm Dixon Hughes Goodman, served as chair for the recent 2012 March for Babies walk in Washington, D.C., the largest fundraiser event for the March of Dimes.
Carlton joined fellow event chairs Jeff Johnson of Booz Allen Hamilton, Jeffrey Kovach of Beacon Capital Partners, Craig Renner of the St. Charles Companies and Joann Gelrud in helping to raise $1.8 million for the nonprofit organization, which focuses on pregnancy and baby health.
The May 30 walking event, now in its 43rd year, drew 9,000 local residents and business leaders to its cause of raising money for lifesaving research, education and local grants for programs like NICU Family Support Project and Mama & Baby Bus. The D.C. Metro community that turned out was one of 900 nationwide hosting the event.
