Mass. firm sponsors holiday party for developmentally disabled children

More than 60 families attended the recent Children’s Holiday Party for members of ARC of Greater Plymouth, sponsored by Marshfield, Mass., CPA and business development advisory firm Damon, Topham & Company.

This marked the 12th year the firm sponsored the event for ARC of Greater Plymouth, a private, nonprofit membership organization for people with mental retardation, related developmental disabilities and their families.

The children in attendance ate a holiday meal, were presented gifts from Santa and were entertained by the puppets, songs and dances of local storyteller Ryan Racette.

Borders book store in Kingston, Mass., donated books to the children.

“The ARC party is a safe environment for the children and a setting where they can be themselves,” said Jill O'Reilly, community support coordinator at ARC. “We heard parents comment on how this year's party was one of the best ones we've held.”

ARC serves Carver, Duxbury, Halifax, Hanover, Hanson, Kingston, Marshfield, Pembroke, Plympton and Plymouth, Mass.

“The holiday season reminds us to be grateful for what we have and to share that bounty,” stated John Topham, co-founder of Damon, Topham & Company, LLC. “Once again we are working with the ARC of Greater Plymouth to brighten the lives of children.”
