Steven Harris elected chairman of National Association of Black Accountants (NABA)

The National Association of Black Accountants (NABA)announced on Thursday that Steven Harris, partner-in-charge ofRubinBrown’s Entrepreneurial Services Group, was named the new chairman of their Board of Directors. Effective July 1, 2016, Harris will serve a two-year term. 

[IMGCAP(1)] Harris currently oversees numerous RubinBrown clients in the not-for-profit, contractor, entertainment, manufacturing and public sector industries. He is a member of the AICPA and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, in addition to serving as chair of theYoung Professional Network of the Regional Business Council.

 “It’s wonderful to see Steven stepping into this national leadership role for NABA," said John Herber, chairman of RubinBrown, per a statement. "Since joining RubinBrown, he has demonstrated the ability to lead major initiatives, empower the people around him, and further the highest standards in the accounting practice. He has contributed to the entrepreneurial success of many start-up businesses, in particular, and makes a great role model for new professionals building their practices.”

Notably, Harris was named one of the St. Louis Business Journal’s "30 under 30" and Diverse Business Leaders, recognized by the St. Louis American in 2014 with its Young Leader Award, and honored by the University of Missouri with its Outstanding Young Alumni Award in 2012.

NABA is a nonprofit membership association dedicated to bringing together people of color in the accounting, finance, consulting, information technology and other related professions. NABA provides education, resources and career connections to over 200,000 professional and student members.
