WS+B trades jeans for cans in holiday food drive

New Jersey-based CPA firm WithumSmith+Brown recently coordinated two “jeans day” food drives to help local food banks in short supply.

On two Fridays, Nov. 1 and 15, employees could wear jeans at the office in return for donating canned or non-perishable goods.

In total, the firm collected nearly 2,500 cans of food that were distributed to several local organizations including the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and HomeFront.

The offices in Red Bank, Princeton, New Brunswick, Morristown and New York City used their donated food items to construct “can sculptures,” with the winning creation by the Red Bank office in tribute to the ongoing “Restore the Shore” effort after Sandy. Other sculptures commemorated the firm’s upcoming 40th anniversary and captured a holiday wonderland and famous structures like Egypt’s Great Sphinx and New York City’s Empire State Building.
