Here's some light reading for your summer -- physically light, that is. While short (and mostly in paperback and e-format), we think these eight books from the past few months are all worth a look.

CPA Thomas Corley has compiled a list of the cheapest places to retire in the U.S., and you can buy e-books of it in different slices to help advise your clients. The slices include variations based on the cheapest places by the beach.

CPA Firm Succession Planning: A Perfect Storm
If, like so many other CPA firms, you are coming late to succession planning, you can find no better guide than well-known consultant Marc Rosenberg's monograph on the subject. And even if you think you know everything there is to know, you'll probably still find something here worth your time.

Once you've read Rosenberg's book on succession, we suggest you pick up this light tome, which is the distilled wisdom of two recent leaders of Plante Moran -- Bill Hermann and Gordon Krater, who between them worked up one smooth transition.
