Jackson Hewitt Opens Early

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service has opened for the next season with a new Year-End Tax Planner service that will estimate 2015 taxes and refunds.

For a limited time, selected Hewitt locations are inviting clients to meet with a preparer who will use the clients’ IDs and latest paycheck stubs to estimate maximum refunds. Clients may also qualify for a Year-End Refund Advance of up to $250 available the same day they come in, and a $600 Refund Advance available in January when they return to Hewitt to file.

Earlier this month, tax prep chain Liberty Tax Services also announced it was opening early for the next tax season, primarily to help clients comply with new Obamacare regulations.

Jackson Hewitt said it will also help clients gain access to health care coverage for 2016 through partnerships with marketplace brokers DirectHealth and GetInsured.

Clients who purchase insurance through the marketplace may be eligible for the premium tax credit, which pays some or all of the entire health insurance premium. Hewitt stressed the importance of enrolling by December 15 to ensure coverage starting January 1, as tax penalties for being uninsured will increase significantly in 2016.
