On Monday, Jeff Phillips, CEO of accounting careers website Accountingfly, addressed GroPro 2014 on how to best handle modern-day recruiting for the accounting profession. His presentation, entitled "Recruit Like the Big Four," emphasized a larger focus on investing in technology and talent in hiring top-notch candidates.

A group known as the Climate Disclosure Standards Board is readying an updated Climate Change Reporting Framework that aims to tie environmental information in with financial reporting for investors.

Last Saturday, CohnReznick participated in the American Cancer Society’s "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Santa Monica 5K”, in honor of the firm’s chief of staff, Risa Lavine, and all women in the CohnReznick family who are affected by the disease. The Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) recently announced the winners of its Internal Audit Case Study Competition, held at the Los Angeles Athletic Club on October 23, 2014. Sponsored by the Los Angeles Chapter of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the competition saw some of the best and brightest accounting and auditing students in the L.A. area present their case for responding to potential material fraud at a fictitious public company.

It pays to be an accounting major at Murray State University in Kentucky, as Oct. 10 saw the dedication of the new 5,700 sq. foot Dr. Tim Miller Center for Accounting Education - a suite for accounting students to work and meet with their peers outside of class during the academic year.
