The Business Learning Institute announced on Tuesday that twenty up-and-coming professionals have graduated from their 2016 Leadership Academy. Held Aug. 24-26 in Towson, Md., the annual event gathers top CPAs and teaches them strategic thinking, leadership skills, and network-building.

Top 100 firm Weaver announced on Tuesday that their Weaver Private Foundation have chosen Habitat for Humanity as their Charity of Choice for the 2015-16 fiscal year. The Foundation contributed $60,000 to Habitat for Humanity Texas to distribute to the organization's affiliates in locations where Weaver holds offices.

Southern Illinois firm Scheffel Boyle announced on Monday that they'll be adding a new "Agribusiness Service Niche" to their list of client focus groups. The Agribusiness Niche will look to provide tax, accounting, audit, succession and estate planning, as well as general consulting services, to the agricultural industry.

The Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) announced on Friday that they've awarded scholarships totaling $250,000 to 97 accounting students attending 18 different colleges and universities in the state.

Becker Professional Education, subsidiary of the DeVry Education Group, announced on Thursday that Kenneth Koskay will be joining the company as senior director of Global Accounts. The Oregon Society of CPAS (OSCPA) Educational Foundation, in affiliation with the OSCPA, recently announced its scholarship award recipients for the 2016-17 academic year. Scholarships range from $2,000 to $3,000, for a total of $106,000 awarded to 49 students.

The AICPA announced on Wednesday that they will be offering a free, four-part webcast series on creating a more inclusive workplace in the accounting profession. Dubbed "The Workplace Inclusion" series, the webcast is a continuation of an earlier series on unconscious bias. The first part will premiere on Thursday, Aug. 18, from 1-2 pm ET.
