  • The District of Columbia planned to launch a tax amnesty program in early August, in an effort to collect $170 million in known receivables from more than 42,000 individuals and businesses. D.C. is not the only place offering an amnesty this year - Pennsylvania offered a program until June 18. Florida, Nevada and New Mexico are also offering amnesty programs until Sept. 30. The district reportedly expects to earn an estimated $20 million in revenue from the amnesty and has already included the money in its fiscal 2010 budget.
