Brown Smith Wallace promotes eight to partner; HHM CPAs hires 10; and other recent hires, promotions and personnel news from firms across the country.

ALABAMA

Alan Alexander was hired as the chief operating officer at Jackson Thornton, Montgomery.

ARIZONA

Dustin Minton was hired as a partner at Henry+Horne, Tempe, joining the restaurant niche.

CALIFORNIA

Kevin Wiest was appointed partner in the tax and accounting services practice at Windes, Irvine.

Steve Brotherton was hired as a partner and national global leader of export controls and sanctions at KPMG, and head of the firm’s Bay Area trade and customs team, San Francisco.

FLORIDA

Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund, Tampa, announced three employees received recognition: Chandra Clines, manager in the tax and accounting services department, received a 2019 Horizon Award from the Florida Institute of CPAs; Michael Egan, a senior in the tax and accounting services department, and Jayme Terrell, marketing manager, were named 2019 Rising Stars by inWeekly magazine.

GEORGIA

Moore Colson, Atlanta, promoted four directors to partner: Adam Bateman and Jon Powell, who both started with the firm nearly 13 years ago; Billy Boyd, who has been with the firm since 2005; and Christopher Fagan (pictured), who joined the firm in 2013.

ILLINOIS

Bernie Lietz was hired as chief operating officer at Topel Forman, Chicago.

UHY Advisors, Chicago, appointed five new managing directors: Michelle Felmlee, Brent Jones, Chad Kime, Jill Starrs and Todd Tigges (pictured).

INDIANA

Somerset CPAs, Indianapolis, promoted 12 people to senior managers: Caleb Bullock, on the assurance and business development team; Abby Cox and Matthew Utterback, on the tax team; Jeremy Davis and Victoria Pierceall, on the entrepreneurial team; Jane Keller and Ashley Vandy, on the health care team; Sharon Linville, on the assurance team; Brian Muncy and Scott Sutton, on the construction, architects and engineers teams; Craig Todderud on the dealership and entrepreneurial services team; and Jaclyn Verbeten (pictured), on the tax and local tax teams.

KENTUCKY

Bobbi Cunningham was promoted to director of the client accounting services division at Riney Hancock CPAs, where she has worked since 1989.

MASSACHUSETTS

Steve Zaremba was named partner at EJ Callahan & Associates, Woburn.

G.T. Reilly & Co., Milton, promoted four professionals: Sean McNeil to accounting and auditing supervisor; and Michael Abrahamian, Jennifer Murgia and Matthew Murray to in-charge accountants and auditors.

MISSOURI

Brown Smith Wallace, St. Louis, promoted eight principals to partner: Kevin Boeving, Jen Vacha and Debbie Vandeven in tax services; Scott Brandt, audit services and construction industry group leader; Todd Goldenhersh in audit services; Amy Ribick and Anne Ritter in advisory services; and Dan Schoenleber in transaction advisory and litigation support services.

KPM CPAs & Advisors, Springfield, announced that Ross Wiseman (pictured), staff accountant, earned his CPA license, and Sarah Burrows, supervisor in the nonprofit and governmental team, earned her Intermediate Single Audit Certificate.

Jill Starrs was appointed managing director, and Angie Hoog was promoted to principal, at UHY Advisors, St. Louis.

NEW JERSEY

Henna Reit (pictured) was promoted to member at Smolin, Lupin & Co., Fairfield.

Andrea Nodoro was named a principal at Untracht Early, which she joined in 2013 and is a member of the individual tax practice.

NEW YORK

Michael Oates (pictured) was hired as a partner in the financial services and investment group at Withum, New York.

Marks Paneth, New York, promoted three to director: Gina Citrola and Alvin Yeung in the real estate group; and Boris Pritsker in the private client services group.

Leonard Carone was promoted to partner at Grassi Franchise Services, Ronkonkoma.

Kimberly Cossart (pictured) was hired as a tax manager and Natasha Louya as a tax supervisor, at DMJ & Co., Greensboro.

OHIO

Melissa Gallop (pictured) was hired as a senior manager in the tax services group, and Carlin Culbertson was promoted to vice president in the assurance services group, at Meaden & Moore, Cleveland.

PENNSYLVANIA

Craig Witmer, member of SEK CPAs & Advisors, Chambersburg, completed the certification process to earn the Advanced Single Audit certificate from the American Institute of CPAs.

TENNESSEE

HHM CPAs, Chattanooga, hired 10 new employees: Robin Shields and Terri Jeter-McAvoy as tax managers; Brittany Carman (pictured) as a senior audit manager; Logan George, Amanda Conner, Jesse Wright, Alison Carroll and Jacob Pardue as staff accountants; and Savannah Clark and Suzanne Branam as members of the administrative team.

Rebecca Jacobs, senior tax manager at Reynolds, Bone & Griesbeck, Memphis, was appointed as a member of the leadership and development committee for Allinial Global, for an appointment from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2019.

VIRGINIA

Jennifer Harrison was hired as membership director at the National Society of Accountants, Alexandria.
