The deal expands Prager Metis's industry expertise in real estate, affordable housing and construction, and grows its footprint in the Southeast. Sherbert is an accounting and advisory firm with offices in North America, Europe and Asia. Managing principal Bill Sherbert and certain members of his team will relocate to Prager Metis's office in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Prager Metis is based in New York and ranked No. 62 on Accounting Today's 2026 Top 100  Firms list. It reported $133.7 million in revenue, with 76 partners and over 580 employees across 23 offices.

In January 2018, Prager Metis merged in entertainment-focused firms Cameo Wealth & Creative Management, Asteri Group and Smallfield Cody. Earlier that month, it merged in another firm that focuses on the entertainment industry, Geibelson, Young & Company, based in Woodland Hills, Calif. The previous February, it expanded its entertainment industry practice by merging in Stuart A. Ditsky CPA, an accounting firm headquartered in New York with offices in Los Angeles and Connecticut that caters to the entertainment business.
