Top 50 firm Schellman announced it has formed an Advisory Board, and has appointed six leaders to fill the new body. By assembling a diverse team of industry experts and thought leaders, Schellman aims to gain meaningful insights and perspectives on how to best navigate evolving market dynamics and capitalize on emerging opportunities. The new advisory board is composed of Harry Moseley, an information security specialist; Joyce Brocaglia, a recruiting expert for information security and IT risk management talent; Milan Patel, a longtime veteran of the cybersecurity, risk management and compliance arena; Steve Auerbach, who holds extensive experience in healthcare benefits and technology; Liz Mann, a leader in cybersecurity consulting; and Cindy Wyatt, a specialist in the areas of risk management, internal controls and business processes. Schellman CEO Avani Desai said the board will provide strategic direction, foster collaboration, and ensure alignment with the company's vision and values.

New partnership lets Xero users send data to Caseware

Small business accounting platform Xero announced a new partnership with accounting solutions provider Caseware. The partnership will provide Xero and Caseware's shared customers a solution where they can send trial balances and general ledger data from Xero into Caseware Working Papers. The new integration, which will be available to accountants and bookkeepers in Canada (and additional regions) later this year, is meant to help accountants and bookkeepers complete their year-end compliance requirements faster, as it will help reduce the need to manually export and import files between the two systems, saving time and minimizing manual data entry needs for customers. This expands the existing integration between Xero and Caseware's cloud apps, which offers additional capabilities between Xero and Caseware's cloud suite of assurance and financial reporting solutions. As part of the agreement, Xero and Caseware will explore further integration opportunities for their bookkeeping efficiency tools.

Fortanix announces full disc encryption

Cloud security solutions provider Fortanix announced its Fortanix Data Security Manager product now sports full disk encryption with the ability to protect individual file systems on specified hosts through encryption, governed by granular decryption policies. This addition ensures that Fortanix's unified data security platform now supports encryption across all layers, including application, database, storage, and file system. It is made for situations different user groups require access to distinct parts of an overall database. The new capability enables encryption management at the file system level without disrupting IT administrative activities like replication, backup, migration, or snapshots. The solution's granular controls also precisely define the administrative access granted to users. Unlike other solutions, Fortanix File System Encryption operates at the OS layer rather than the kernel layer. This approach simplifies deployment and daily operations, eliminating issues related to kernel dependencies. Fortanix's Full Disc Encryption feature is available now.
