AICPA to hold public forum on diversity and inclusion

The American Institute of CPAs' National Committee on Diversity and Inclusion will host its second public forum on diversity, equity and inclusivity on May 10.

Dubbed The New Partnership – DEI is Everyone’s Responsibility, the free online event will feature discussions on the importance of DE&I strategies for firms based on their current needs. Panelists will also discuss the concrete steps firms can take to make these aspirations a reality.

“While the tone at the top is critical for establishing diversity and inclusion goals, employees at all levels must play their part to build diverse, equitable and inclusive firms and organizations,” said Barry Melancon, president and CEO of the AICPA, in a statement. “Employees who understand the business case for a diverse workplace and embrace inclusion in their roles have the ability to create positive change in their organizations.”

Panelists will include:

  • Barry Melancon, president and CEO, AICPA, CEO, Association of International Certified Professional Accountants;
  • Richard Caturano, national leader of culture diversity and inclusion at RSM, AICPA past chairman, NCDI chair;
  • Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, past chair, AICPA, NCDI vice-chair and incoming chair;
  • Julie Wood, chief people officer, Crowe;
  • Chris Mitchell, chief diversity officer, Crowe;
  • Richard Mastrocola, president and CEO, Tonneson+Co.; and,
  • Jamie Tong-Chow, managing director – audit, Tonneson+Co.
