The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh have signed a memorandum of understanding to provide an online CPA Certificate in IPSAS Financial Reporting in Bangladesh.
CPA Ireland has been signing a series of such deals this year to provide its online certification program for International Public Sector Accounting Standards with accounting organizations in a number of other countries, including Belarus, Nigeria, Russia and South Africa (see CPA Ireland Signs Deal with Belarus CPAs).
The deal with the ICAB now extends the IPSAS certificate program to Bangladesh. “We are pleased that ICAB has decided to partner with CPA Ireland in the delivery of IPSAS training in Bangladesh,” said CPA Ireland CEO Eamonn Siggins in a statement. Governments and the public around the world are increasingly pressing for good management of public finances. We, as accountants must lead from the front and be involved in every conversation about public sector accounting.”
IPSAS is a set of standards promulgated by the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board, which operates under the auspices of the International Federation of Accountants.
“Over the past few years many countries around the world have embraced International Public Sector Accounting Standards, which enable uniformity, transparency, consistency, and accountability in public sector financial reporting,” said ICAB President Masih Malik Chowdury. “Even though countries may choose accrual or cash based IPSAS, the long-term goal for most is accrual-based accounting, which provides a clearer picture of assets, liabilities, and future obligations. Improved public sector reporting provides investors and development partners with access to better, more trustworthy financial information.”
