ARIZONA

REDW LLC will host The 2015 Tribal Finance and Leadership Conference at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona on November 12th and 13th. The annual event, now in its 6th consecutive year, is organized by REDW and is exclusively designed for tribal leaders.

CONNECTICUT

Nearly 140 golfers gathered at the BlumShapiro Golf Classic which was held on July 27 at the New Haven Country Club. The annual tournament, reception and raffle benefits the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund for New Haven-area students pursuing college degrees in business. To date, nearly $60,000 in scholarships has been raised for the students. LOUISIANA

Sage announced that Sage and the Sage Foundation have worked together to raise $30,000 for long-standing Sage customer New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization helping low-income families in New Orleans to build and finance new, safe affordable homes. Converging on New Orleans for the global Sage Summit, Sage staff has sold $15,000 worth of branded Mardi Gras beads in support of NOAHH. This sum is being matched by the new Sage global philanthropy model, Sage Foundation, to donate a grand sum of $30,000 to the organization.

NEW JERSEY

Three new levels of sponsorship have been announced for this year’s Fourth Annual 4 Miler at Garret Mountain in Woodland Park, N.J., by SaxBST, organizer and host of the Saturday, September 12, 2015 race/walk. All sponsorship proceeds will once again be earmarked for St. Joseph's Children's Hospital to ease the worries of children undergoing treatment for life-threatening illnesses and injuries.

NEW YORK

Representatives from 70 leading private equity firms competed in the second CBIZ Private Equity Golf Tournament at the Winged Foot Golf Club on July 14th. The event was hosted by CBIZ Inc. … Some of New York’s young CPAs gathered in New York City on July 31, 2015 for NextGen 2015, an annual interactive career development conference hosted by the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. … CohnReznick LLP raised a total of $100,000 at its 14th annual employee Bowl-A-Thon benefiting Make-A-Wish New Jersey. This brings the total raised for Make-A-Wish by the Firm over the last 14 years through employee fundraising, donations, and raffles to more than $1.54 million.

OHIO

The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley became the new home to 54 Jack Russell/Beagle-mix dogs last Tuesday after area officers were made aware of the terrible conditions within the home. Armed with a search warrant, the pups were seized and transported to the humane society, which immediately found itself in need of food, medicine and cleaning supplies. After learning of the crisis, employees at the Marietta office of Rea & Associates, a regional accounting and business consulting firm were able to collect more than 175 pounds of dry dog food, 12 gallons of bleach, and eight boxes of treats and cash donations in two days.
