Gitz to Head Louisiana Society

Ronald A. Gitz, CPA, CGMA, has been appointed executive director of the Society of Louisiana CPAs, taking office on April 23. He will succeed Grady Hazel, CPA, CGMA, who is retiring after 17 years as executive director.

A partner in the Covington CPA firm of Reagan, Reagan & Gitz CPA LLC, Gitz began his career with companies such as Graham Resources, LaPorte Sehrt Romig Hand CPAs, and The Laitrim Corp., before starting his own practice in 1995.

"I am honored to have been selected as the LCPA's executive director," Gitz said. "Louisiana CPAs possess an enduring rank among the top CPAs in the nation, and the LCPA has worked tirelessly to support their needs throughout the years to keep them there. I am inspired by that legacy."

Gitz has actively served on several society committees and is a past president of the association's Northshore Chapter. He holds a BS in Accounting from Southeastern Louisiana University.

Dr. Shawn Mauldin, CPA, who led the society's Search Committee, said, "Ron possesses all the traditional qualities of an outstanding leader, including an entrepreneurial spirit that will no doubt lead to new and innovative ideas. In a time of transition for the LCPA, Ron has the ability to align the organization around our new strategic plan."

Organized in 1911, the society represents over 6,300 CPAs.
