Grant Thornton LLP has promoted Frank Kurre to office managing partner for its New York practice. Kurre will settle into his new position on August 1, where he will oversee the firm’s midtown and lower Manhattan, Long Island and Edison, NJ offices.
“Frank has a track record of values-based leadership that consistently exceeds client and firm expectations,” Rick Gebert, Grant Thornton’s regional managing partner, said in a statement. “His demonstrated commitment to supporting dynamic organizations and his focus on operational excellence positions him well to steer and build upon the success of our largest geographic practice.”
Kurre currently leads the Grant Thornton’s not-for-profit and higher education practice, a position he has held since 2004. He also is a member of the firm’s partnership board. Prior to his national practice role, he was the partner-in-charge of the Northeast not-for-profit practice.
Before joining Grant Thornton, Kurre was with Arthur Andersen LLP where he held numerous roles, including partner-in-charge of the Northeast not-for-profit practice.
Kurre succeeds Jack Katz who will become the Global Leader – Financial Services effective August 1 and will serve as a major client relationship partner.
Kurre, who is a CPA, received a bachelor’s in accounting from St. John’s University and is pursuing a master’s in pastoral studies at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception.
He’s also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also sits as a member of the board of governors at St. John’s University and the audit committee of Catholic Health Services of Long Island. In addition, he serves as an advisory member of the accounting principles committee for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and an associate member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers.
