Intuit Introduces New QuickBooks Online Accountant

Intuit unveiled its new QuickBooks Online Accountant during the VIP reception to kick off the company’s inaugural QuickBooks Connect conference Tuesday.

The practice management solution was built for the cloud, with features and functionality enhancements based on the feedback working with 50 accounting professionals in the last of the team’s 12 months of product development.

At the core of the product is a customizable client dashboard, giving a view into bookkeeping and payroll tasks, with users controlling level of employee access for each client and firm with three levels of permissions to manage risk segment by segment.

A central goal of the new QBOA is time-saving, according to Intuit group product manager Ariege Misherghi, who demonstrated the product to the crowd of VIP attendees.

These efficiency features include context switching, enabling users to toggle between clients’ books in the system so that questions can be quickly answered. QBOA also constantly listens to clients’ books, raising the visibility of changes directly to the dashboard.

The product includes an accountant toolbox for fast access to the most-used tools and features a mix of media for learning, from video to PDF, catering to user preference.

Additionally, the QuickBooks ProAdvisor program is now integrated directly into QBOA for advisors to access training and certification.

“We completely reimagined it, built it from the ground up to confidently help your clients succeed,” Misherghi said.

The QuickBooks Online Accountant roll out will begin in December for the U.S., with plans for a global release in early 2015. A more robust outline of the product is available here
