Members Join PCAOB Advisory Group

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board has named a slate of new appointments and reappointments to its Standing Advisory Group for 2008.

The PCAOB received approximately 90 nominations and re-nominations to fill slots for members of the group whose terms end this year. The board selected a group of individuals with expertise in various areas, including accounting, auditing, corporate finance, corporate governance and investing in public companies.

Among the new members are Elizabeth A. Fender, a corporate governance adviser at Governance for Owners, in Charlotte, N.C.; Margaret M. Foran, senior vice president of corporate governance at Pfizer, in New York; Patricia J. Harned, president of the Ethics Resource Center, in Washington, D.C.; and Jeffrey P. Mahoney, general counsel of the Council of Institutional Investors, in Washington, D.C.

The members' two-year terms will begin in January 2008. The group is chaired by the PCAOB's chief auditor and director of professional standards, Thomas Ray, and meets approximately three times a year.

In separate PCAOB news, the board announced that CFO Tom Hohman has resigned from the board to accept a job as CFO at a private company in Maryland. He joined the PCAOB in July 2003.
