Microsoft Subsidary Rolls Out New Forecaster Version

Microsoft subsidiary FRx Software Corp. has unveiled its latest version of the company’s budgeting and planning software.

Microsoft Forecaster 7.0 is geared towards those midsized companies with upwards of 2,500 employees, though the software’s sweet spot is for those businesses with 250 to 500 workers, according to Gregg Gracheck, senior product manager of FRx Software Corp.
With a focus on userability, adaptability and visibility the updated version now supports Microsoft Windows operating system authentication. Users will be able to sign onto Microsoft Forecaster using the same login information that they use for Windows.

In an effort to enhance the user experience, a status bar has been added to the program’s interface to help identify formulas during the input process. New cut and paste capabilities and quick column sizing have been incorporated, as well as, spread method options that will enable users to apply budget amounts based on historical trends, current factors based on existing amounts or based on a different account.

A more detailed import error notification is now featured in the new version, as well as an added “@ rollup” function to enable automatic recalculation of summary accounts from the input screen. Security set up for groups, users and assignments have been combined into a single screen in an effort to make it easier to assign the right level of responsibility to each user. Up to 10 segments are now available to match the general ledger and data entry changes have been made to the human resources system.
