FLORIDA

Brooke Canfield, Stephanie Gorospe, Charles Hamm and Daniel Holmes were promoted from staff to senior. … M. Javier Zuñiga has been promoted to principal at PDR Certified Public Accountants. Zuñiga’s expertise includes corporate and partnership tax compliance, partnership structures, international taxation, individual taxation and forensic accounting. Zuñiga is also part of PDR CPAs R&D tax credit and cost segregation studies practice areas.

GEORGIA

The Atlanta APICS Chapter has added UHY Advisors’ David Lloyd to its board of directors, where he will serve as Vice President of Administration. The Atlanta Chapter of APICS has been serving Greater Atlanta and North Georgia since 1964. It is also one of the nation’s largest APICS chapters with over 600 members. The chapter provides operations & supply chain management education, fosters best practice sharing, networking, and professional development opportunities for members. Lloyd is a Manager with UHY Advisors, which delivers professional financial, tax and business consulting services to companies ranging from mid-sized to Fortune 500 in size and complexity. He lives and works in the Midtown area of Atlanta. UHY Advisors appointed Eric Johnson as manager in the Atlanta office. HAWAII

Jeff Bartlett was named office managing partner at EY Honolulu’s office. In this role, Bartlett will continue to grow the practice, manage resources and oversee client service in the Hawaii market.

Russell Wilson, a partner at Porte Brown LLC, has been appointed to Chair the Illinois Certified Public Accountants Society's Peer Review Report Acceptance Committee and also the ILCPAS Peer Review Executive Committee. … Manish Tomar has joined Grant Thornton LLP as chief information officer, based in the firm’s Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., office. In this role, he will oversee Grant Thornton’s internal IT function and related programs. … Grant Thornton admitted 50 new partners and principals to the firm, effective Aug. 1. KANSAS

Mayer Hoffman recently elected Andrew Burczyk as president of MHM. Burczyk, who has over 30 years of public accounting experience, has been a proven leader on the Firm’s Executive Committee, as the Midwest Region Attest Practice Leader and as a member of the Professional Standards Group. Bill Hancock, who has previously served as President since 2002 and has 40 years of experience with the firm, will remain as Chairman of the Firm’s Board of Directors. Jay Webber (Boston), Linda Lauer (Memphis), Bruce Murphy (Tampa Bay) and Laurie Hopkins (St. Louis) are the recently elected members of the MHM Board. Each of these individuals is an experienced leader, as all of the new Board Members also serve as Attest Practice Leaders in their respective offices. Webber and Murphy have served on the Board previously and have been elected to renewed terms. Amy Ribick has been promoted to principal in the advisory services practice of Brown Smith Wallace. Ribick has overall responsibility for internal audit and consulting services related to financial institution clients along with overall internal control consulting services. She will continue to focus on the financial services niche as well as establish new client relationships. Lindsay Bowling has been promoted to manager, tax dervices. As Manager, Bowling’s responsibilities will expand to include broader client service oversight, and an increase in consulting and technical review activities. Bowling has eight years of public accounting experience, providing tax compliance and planning and addressing specific client needs across a variety of industries.

Joseph Knockenhauer has joined the firm as its Information Technology Support Specialist. Price succeeds Jessica Blume, who is retiring after a distinguished 26-year career with Deloitte. … Mark Witte has been promoted to principal at UHY LLP. … EY made several new hires and promotions throughout the firm around the country. Andy Baik returns to EY’s National Tax Department as a Principal in International Tax Services, splitting his time between Lyndhurst, NJ, and Singapore. Baik spent his 21-year career with EY in the US and Singapore until 2013, when he joined PwC to lead the Sovereign Wealth Fund tax group in Asia and serve as the Asia lead tax partner on key global MNC accounts. At EY, he will focus on serving private equity and Sovereign Wealth Fund clients. Jose Murillo has been named the Director of the EY National Tax Department’s Washington International Tax Services group, where his practice focuses on cross border acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings. Murillo worked in the US Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy from 2007-2010, where he assisted with the development of international tax policy and legislative proposals and Treasury regulations and in the negotiation of income tax treaties. Viq Pervaaz takes a newly created Principal position in EY’s Human Capital Group, leading the Life Sciences practice. Viq spent the previous five years with Aon in several leadership positions. He also worked previously in the life sciences industry at LabCorp (MDS Pharma Services), Cardinal Health and Merck (Organon) Inc. focused on global leadership in Operations, Communications, Project/Change Management, and marketing.

Brian Abbey returns to EY as an Executive Director in International Tax Services based in Pittsburgh, PA. Previously, he served as International Tax Director with Dentsply International and has also worked with Deloitte. Edel Flynn joins EY as an Executive Director in New York as a member of the Indirect Tax Services team focusing on VAT. Flynn was previously with KPMG for 12 years and also spent time at Abbott Medical Optics as the company’s European Indirect Tax Manager. Kevin Kaiser joins the Transaction Advisory Services practice of EY in Minneapolis as an Executive Director. He will be a leader in the Transaction Tax practice with a focus on financial services clients. Previously, he was a Partner with Lindquist & Vennum LLP in Minneapolis focused on M&A tax and corporate finance, and was previously with KPMG. He earned his JD from William Mitchell College of Law and his MS in Accountancy from San Diego State University.

NORTH CAROLINA

Beth Vestri has joined DMJ & Co. as a tax supervisor in DMJ’s Greensboro, North Carolina office. Vestri has more than fifteen years as an accounting professional, including significant experience handling complex tax, compliance, and accounting issues. Vestri earned her B.S. from the University of South Florida in Tampa. At DMJ, Beth will be responsible for tax preparation, tax research, tax audit, general accounting and related consulting services, and building client relationships. … Bill Gorman will succeed Mike Kirley as McGladrey’s Chief Operating Officer on Sept. 1, 2015. In his new role, Gorman will be responsible for helping bring the firm’s strategy and vision to be the first-choice advisor to middle market leaders to life, both domestically and internationally, as the firm adopts RSM as a common global brand name on October 26, 2015. Gorman brings more than 30 years of experience in the accounting profession to this role, and has served as a member of McGladrey’s national leadership team since 2011.

OHIO

Jason Rauhe has joined Skoda Minotti’s, Tax Planning & Preparation group. Rauhe will lead the International Tax Services group, providing international tax consulting, strategic tax planning and corporate tax support services.

PENNSYLVANIA

Frank Antiga, C. Joseph Assid, Ian McDowell and Danelle Stewart were promoted to senior managers at S.R. Snodgrass.

OREGON

Jackie Merrill has been promoted to senior manager at Moss Adams in the Eugene office. Merrill joined Moss Adams in 2013. She provides tax and consulting services to family-owned businesses, specifically within the food processing, agriculture, and manufacturing industries. Kyle Hauser has been promoted to manager. Hauser joined Moss Adams in October of 2012 after a year at Deloitte in Portland. He provides assurance services to our clients within the financial institution, wineries and higher education industries. Kelly Purdy was promoted to senior. Purdy joined Moss Adams in September of 2013 after graduating from the University of Idaho. She provides assurance services to companies in a variety of industries. Kelly also serves as a board member for the School Garden Project of Lane County. Meagan Rammell was also promoted to senior. Rammell joined Moss Adams in September of 2012 after graduating from Idaho State University and provides assurance services to our not-for-profit and government clients.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Jessica Huggins has joined WebsterRogers LLP as a marketing manager in the firm’s Florence, S.C. headquarters. Prior to joining WebsterRogers Huggins was Marketing Manager at Midlands Technical College, where she worked on the rebrand campaign that launched last winter. She has also held positions in marketing with large healthcare providers in the state. As Marketing Manager, Huggins provides strategic input to the overall marketing strategy of the firm and tactical support of the department’s functions. She oversees and executes events, PR, research, report tracking, marketing collateral design, and social media initiatives; and supports business development activities of industry service groups. Actively involved in her community, this Fork, SC, native is a provisional member of the Junior League of Columbia, a Junior Achievement Young Professional Auxiliary Board Member, a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association’s South Carolina Chapter. Follett focuses on developing tools, resources, guidance, policies and processes associated with firm compliance, risk management, administration and operations. … Dan Griffiths, director of strategic planning at Tanner LLC, won the Outstanding Young CPA Award in Honor of Maximo Mukelabai. Griffiths was recognized for his leadership role with the Utah Association of CPAs and service to his local community. … Brian Mitchell has joined Whitley Penn as director of International Tax and will be based in the firm’s Dallas office. He specializes in the area of international taxation and will lead the firm’s tax practice in this area. Mitchell has more than 17 years of experience dealing with tax matters for both private and public multinational corporations and joint ventures across a broad range of industries including technology, financial services, US and non-US real estate, healthcare, and others. He has advised on the U.S. tax planning and compliance aspects of cross border transactions including U.S. anti-deferral rules, foreign tax credits, U.S. withholding, availability of treaty relief, and other international tax matters.

VIRGINIA

Sam Webb, a team leader with Ryan, has been appointed 2015–2016 Vice Chair of the American Bar Association Section of International Law’s International Trade Committee. Webb specializes in customs and foreign trade out of the firm’s Arlington, Virginia office, and is actively involved in the National Association of Foreign Trade Zones and the Washington International Trade Association.

WASHINGTON D.C.

Catherine Nance will join the Center for Audit Quality the organization as senior director of professional practice. In her new role, Nance will play a pivotal role in leading the CAQ’s regulatory and public policy initiatives and activities. … The American Institute of CPAs awarded Wendy Payne with the Outstanding CPA in Government Career Contribution Award honoring her lifelong contribution to the profession. The AICPA also announced that Leah Nikaidoh, Jacob Flournoy and Anne Harty are recipients of the Outstanding CPA in Government Impact Award. Nikaidoh received the federal impact government award, Flournoy the state impact award and Harty the local impact award. … Joseph Calianno has joined BDO’s Washington, D.C. office as a tax partner and international technical tax practice leader in the national tax office.
