Gordon Holley has been elected as member at large on the Nonprofit CPAs Executive Committee of the Rainmaker Companies. The cofounder of Humanity Financial, a firm in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Gordon Holley brings more than twenty years of experience as a chartered accountant to his work in the nonprofit sector, as well as ten years’ experience as the chief operating officer of two law firms. He founded Humanity Financial with the intent to charter a firm that reflects his personal values. The Institute of Internal Auditors elected Lawrence Harrington as chairman of the organization’s 2015-2016 Global Board of Directors. The election of Harrington and the entire Global Board was held at The IIA’s annual business meeting following the organization’s 74th International Conference in Vancouver, B.C.
Eric Weis has been appointed to consulting partner at Armanino LLP. He will join the firm's Governance, Risk & Compliance practice where he will focus on internal audit, risk management and Sarbanes-Oxley consulting. Bruce Allen has been presented with the Distinguished Service Award from the California Society of CPAs. For his volunteer work in the Fresno area, Robert Price has received the 2015 Public Service Award from the California Society of CPAs. The annual award recognizes an individual CalCPA member for services to his or her community or for governmental service in either a volunteer or elected capacity. Price, a shareholder in the Clovis firm of Price Paige & Co., has served on the board or volunteered his services to such organizations as the San Joaquin Valley Planned Giving Council, San Joaquin Leave a Legacy, Fresno Estate Planning Council, the Saint Agnes Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club of Fresno County.
Mark Campbell, BlumShapiro Shelton office partner, has been elected President of the Board of Directors of the Association for Corporate Growth’s Connecticut Chapter. Campbell’s term as Board President runs from June 2015-June 2017.
Jennifer Mostert has been promoted to manager in the audit & assurance services department of Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund. She received her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of West Florida. Her primary areas of concentration include providing audit and related assurance services for a number of the firm’s corporate, not-for-profit, governmental and hospitality industry clients. As part of an ongoing expansion of its private equity practice, BDO USA, has named Todd Kinney national relationship director of Private Equity Services. In this new role, Kinney will lead the growing, dedicated business development team of BDO’s Private Equity practice, and will serve as a strategic networking partner, coordinating nationwide networking activities for the private equity and investment banking communities that expand upon his current work in the Northeast. Ken Kobiernicki, a CPA at Ostrow Reisin Berk & Abrams, Ltd., was recently appointed to the Illinois CPA Society's Employee Benefits Committee. The Committee's main responsibility is to monitor developments affecting employee benefit plans in the areas of accounting and financial reporting, auditing, Department of Labor and Internal Revenue Code rules and regulations, and to enhance members' understanding and promote their compliance in these areas.
Kamlesh Vikamsey, a partner at HLB International’s Indian member Khimji Kunverji & Co, has been appointed as a member of the External Audit Committee of the International Monetary Fund with effect from 1st November 2015, for a term of three years. Vikamsey has also been recently appointed a member of the Independent Management Advisory Committee of the United Nations’ International Telecommunication Union with effect from 1st January 2016, for a term of four years.
Adam Hancock has been named managing shareholder/president of Riney Hancock CPAs. Hancock joined the firm in 2005 and became a shareholder in 2013, and serves as the director of the firm’s Consulting Services Division.
Ben Dailey has been elected as The Rainmaker Companies’ member at large on the Auto Dealers CPAs Executive Committee. Dailey joined Macpage in 2012 and was promoted to director at in January of 2015.
Gary Brunick has been admitted into Buchbinder Tunick & Co’s partnership. Brunick is experienced with conducting audits for labor organizations, multiemployer employee benefit plans and non-profit organizations. He’s also proficient with internal financial reporting and analysis, budget coordination and accounting software administration from when he was an industry accountant at a statewide labor organization. Brunick is a graduate of Binghamton University and is a member of the AICPA. He is licensed as a CPA in New York and Virginia, and is a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

Financial Executives International elected a new slate of executive officers and members of the Board of Directors for the 2015-2016 fiscal year, effective July 1, 2015. Mitch Danaher, Deputy Controller of General Electric Company will serve as FEI’s national Board Chair for a second term. He has worked with General Electric for more than 30 years, starting as a recruit in their Financial Management Program and serving in a variety of finance roles at GE’s businesses and on the Headquarters staff. Danaher also has served as a Member of the U.S. delegation to the International Accounting Standards Committee and as a Member of the FASB's Emerging Issues Task Force. Deborah Finch and Nicholas Shires were admitted into the partnership of Dannible & McKee. Shailen Amin has joined BDO USA in the Transaction Advisory Services practice in the New York City office. Prior to joining BDO, Amin spent several years leading merger and acquisition investment activities of WPP Group in North American, EMEA and Asia Pacific and has been a TAS service provider to private equity funds and acquisitive corporations for over 20 years. KPMG announced the incoming leaders of the U.S. firm’s Audit, Tax and Advisory businesses, as well as new heads of Operations and Innovation & Enterprise Solutions and other key roles. These appointments fill key positions in the leadership team formed by U.S. Chairman and CEO Lynne Doughtie and Deputy Chairman and Chief Operating Officer P. Scott Ozanus, who began their five-year terms as the firm’s top leaders on July 1. The leaders of the firm’s three primary businesses are: Carl Carande, who succeeds Doughtie as Vice Chair of Advisory; Jeffrey LeSage, who will continue in his role as vice chair of tax; and Scott Marcello as vice chair of audit. BDO USA added 25 new employees in its Northeast Ohio locations. Corrigan Krause has promoted several staff members. Henry Gingerich was promoted from senior manager to director. Aaron Apathy, Michael Bigrigg moved up to manager in the assurance services department, Sean Brady was promoted to supervisor in the Assurance Services Department and Nicole Malinowski to senior associate in the Assurance Services Department Ken Sable has joined Zinner & Co as a senior tax manager in the firm’s Estate, Gift & Trust practice. Sable’s career spans over 14 years and includes areas of expertise in individual and trust income taxes, estate and gift tax planning, investments, and charitable planning, as well as succession and business consulting services for private and family business owners. He received a B.S. in accounting from Hiram College, a J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, and an MBA from Cleveland State College of Graduate Studies. He is a licensed attorney in the State of Ohio. In addition, he is a member of the American Bar Association, Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, Ohio Bar Association, and AICPA. He is an active member of the Estate Planning Council of Cleveland and the alumni associations of University School and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Laurence Talley has joined BDO USA as a director. In this role, Talley is responsible for overseeing professionals and managing client and prospect relationships for the Risk Advisory Services practice in BDO’s Northeast Ohio offices in Cleveland, Solon and Akron. He will also serve as a member of BDO’s national Financial Institutions practice. Nancy Schreiner, a client service specialist at Rea & Associates, was named one of Insightful Accountant’s (formally Intuitive Accountant) Top 100 ProAdvisors. This is the second year in a row in which Schreiner was recognized for her achievements and expertise. Graydon Thompson has added veteran QuickBooks consultant and accounting professional Reba Childers to its Small Business Services group.
Lloyd Grissinger has been appointed to tax practice leader at CBIZ MHM’s Memphis office. Grissinger will be responsible for practice growth, financial management, quality control, risk management, and operational matters as well as personnel development. Grissinger will maintain active client service and engagement management responsibilities.
Dan Nettles and Mayra Lopez have joined Better Bookkeepers, Inc., both as bookkeepers. The Rainmaker Companies has elected Susan Roberts of Sanford, Baumeister & Frazier, LLP, a Fort Worth, Texas, firm as member at large on the Manufacturing CPAs Executive Committee. Lucas LaChance has promoted Lane Gorman Trubitt to director of practice growth. LaChance began his career with LGT in Assurance Services in 2007. Coming up through the ranks, LaChance was a senior manager before making the move to director of practice growth effective June 1st of this year. During his time in assurance services, LaChance focused on construction, manufacturing and not-for-profit accounting, although his new role also expands his areas of expertise to include healthcare, automotive dealer services and real estate. LaChance is the recipient of the Rising Star Award given by the Texas Society of CPAs and is a published author and editor of several works for the CPA profession including guides for the application of GAAP, audits of not-for-profit organizations, small business consulting and numerous newsletter articles. LaChance serves on the Board of Directors of Voices of Change as well as on the Finance Committee of the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture and is a frequent speaker to local, state and national audiences on topics critical to the accounting profession. Thurston Award for his article on performing operational audits of repair and maintenance functions titled “No Crash Landings,” which appeared in the February 2014 issue of Internal Auditor. Michael Parkinson was honored on with the Institute of Internal Auditors’s Victor Z. Brink Award for Distinguished Service. John Flaherty was awarded the Bradford Cadmus Memorial Award for his substantial contributions to the global profession.

His assurance practice concentration is construction and real estate related companies, family-owned businesses, and governmental agencies. He has been recognized as a “Super CPA” by a Virginia business publication as well as being named in the “Top 10 Business People Under 40” by the Shenandoah Valley Business Journal. Robinson has earned the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional and the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt designations. Harold Holstein provides services to clients to construction, oil and gas production, timber, and mineral extraction clients. He has extensive involvement with multi-state tax reporting, and is a frequent speaker on state and local taxation issues. Harold is a graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology and has achieved the Professional Certified Mineral Managers designation through the National Association of Royalty Owners CMM program. Christopher Banta is a member of the firm’s Governmental Financial Services Team. He has a range of experience working with privately held companies, not-for-profits, electric cooperatives, governmental, and municipal entities. He also is a Certified Fraud Examiner which allows him the opportunity to provide fraud, litigation, and expert witness support to clients. John Hash is a member of the firm’s Education and Not-for-Profit Services Team. He has diversified audit and consulting experience with particular expertise serving small private colleges and universities and other types of not-for-profit organizations. The Securities and Exchange Commission announced that Public Company Accounting Oversight Board member Lewis Ferguson has been reappointed for a second term on the board. ACA Inc’s ambassador, Michele Thoren Bond, was selected as the recipient of the 2015 Thomas Jefferson Award for outstanding service by a State Department employee to Americans abroad. The Center for Audit Quality announced that Mary Schapiro has joined the CAQ's Governing Board. Schapiro will serve as one of three independent Governing Board members who come from outside the public company auditing profession.
