Katrina Carrizales, a manager at the Los Angeles office of PwC, signed up as the 40,000th member of the California Society of CPAs. In recognition of the milestone, she'll receive a lifetime CalCPA membership, be honored at the society's annual council meeting, and be featured in CalCPA's member magazine, California CPA.

Patrick Malayter, a partner in the Indianapolis office of BKD LLP, has been named national tax director of the Springfield-based firm.



Martin Shenkman, principal at Martin Shenkman PC, Paramus, has received the 2012 Sidney Kess Award for Excellence in Continuing Education from the American Institute of CPAs. ... Deborah Mathis, shareholder-in-charge of the Healthcare Services Group and executive director of CG Healthcare Solutions at Cowan, Gunteski & Co. PA, Tinton Falls, and Lynne Broza, a director in the firm's Litigation & Valuation Services Group, have been named 2012 Women of Note by the New Jersey Society of CPAs, in recognition of their impact the accounting profession.



Deborah J. Levinson has joined Reznick Group as a principal. Based in New York City, Levinson will be charged with expanding the firm's commercial real estate practice throughout the New York Metro area.

Robert Moreland has joined the Columbus office of Blue & Co. LLC, as a tax manager. ... Martin J. Hrabik, of Walthall, Drake & Wallace LLP, received the Alumni of the Year Award from the Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Association at Cleveland State University. ... Robert H. Herz, former chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Board, has been elected to the Accounting Hall of Fame of The Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business.



Angela L. Quigley, of the Tax Department of the Chambersburg office of Smith Elliott Kearns & Co. LLC, has earned her CPA license from the Pennsylvania State Board of Accountancy.



Clark Nuber, Bellevue, announced a number of new hires: Katie Moyer has joined the firm as a senior, and Joe Habertzetle as a senior manager, in State and Local Tax Group; Tondi Turner as an administrative assistant; and Paul Manry as a senior manager in the Audit and Assurance Department. Kate Schmucker and Brad King has joined the Washington office of the American Institute of CPAs, as director of congressional and political affairs and director of congressional and political affairs, respectively. ... George S. Canellos, the director of the New York Regional Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission, has been named deputy director of the Division of the Enforcement, starting on June 4, at which point Andrew Calamari will become acting director of the New York Regional Office.
