SBA Expands Inner City Business Program

The U.S. Small Business Administration plans to expand its Emerging 200 initiative, which supports inner-city small businesses, to five more cities in the spring.

The five cities include Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Jacksonville, and Portland, Ore. They join 10 other cities that are already part of the program: Albuquerque, Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Des Moines, Memphis, Milwaukee, New Orleans and Philadelphia.

The Emerging 200 program provides small business executives with high-level training, networking and other resources. Executives participate in an intensive program, draw from each other's experiences and expertise, develop connections with local capital providers, and complete a growth plan by the end of the program.
