UBS Analyst Joins Standards Board

Stephen Cooper, a managing director and head of valuation and accounting research at UBS Investment Bank, has been appointed to the International Accounting Standards Board.

Cooper will be joining as a part-time member in August for a five-year term while continuing to work part-time at UBS. He is expected to play a role in getting the investment community more involved in the standards-setting process at the IASB.

He was voted top European valuation and accounting analyst by Extel and Institutional Investor magazine in the last 10 surveys. Cooper has also been involved with IASB as a member of the organization's Corporate Reporting User Forum, Analyst Representative Group and Financial Statement Presentation Working Group.

Three members of the IASB retired at the end of June, and the trustees expect to announce the appointment of a full-time replacement for one of them shortly.
