Wiss Forms Economic Incentive Group

Wiss & Company has recently introduced The Wiss Economic Incentive Group to help businesses throughout the tri-state region of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut participate in government incentive programs.

The new group, also known as TWEIG, assists clients in accessing the many business incentive programs offered by the federal, state and local governments. In working directly with these programs, the group brings savings to small and middle market businesses in a wide range of industries.

Led by Wiss partners Arthur Schwartzman and Philip London, the members of TWEIG have over 15 years of experience in helping businesses access incentive benefits. Other members of TWEIG include Mark Feldstein, Kimberly Motekew, Kerri Nelan, Nicole Stewart and Janet Romero.

The New York State Empire Zone Program jumpstarted the group, which was formerly part of Freeman & Davis LLP, and demonstrated the need to expand the menu of programs that were offered to qualifying businesses. Wiss acquired Freeman & Davis last year. Over the years members have developed many relationships at various levels of local and state government.

“We know that in today’s economy all businesses are eager to find a competitive edge and TWEIG will assist businesses to identify those incentive programs that bring tangible benefits to the bottom line,” said Schwartzman in a statement. “There is strong competition for these economic incentives given state and local governments’ current budgetary limitations. TWEIG’s experience can help give clients that competitive edge.”

TWEIG targets small to mid-market businesses with $10 million to $100 million in sales that are located in the tri-state region. Specialized services include program grants, real estate tax abatements, energy programs, tax credits and incentives and unique financing opportunities. The group works with numerous industries including those targeted for specialized economic development benefits, such as biotech, importers and exporters, green technologies, manufacturers, research & development and emerging technologies.
