Weaver foundation donates to Habitat for Humanity

Texas-based firm Weaver’s private foundation selected six local affiliates of Habitat for Humanity as “charity of choice” for the fiscal year 2010-11, contributing $42,000 and local employee volunteers.

The six affiliates are in Texas communities where Weaver has offices: Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Midland (which also serves Odessa) and San Antonio.

Weaver staff will participate in a build at a local jobsite next January.

“A goal of the foundation is to promote volunteerism among our employees by providing enriching opportunities to service those in need in our community,” said Elizabeth O. Bunk, partner in Weaver’s tax and business services and a board member of the Weaver Private Foundation, in a statement.

Weaver’s foundation, created to foster local community involvement and employee work/life balance, names a charity of choice annually to support through volunteerism and a financial contribution.

“Thanks to Weaver, our local Habitat affiliates will continue to provide much-needed housing for families in Texas,” said Matt Hull, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Texas, in a statement. “Each Texas Habitat affiliate provides both volunteers and homeowners opportunities to give time and hands-on experience associated with strengthening individual communities across our state.”
